The Best Of- Breakfast

Some of you may remember my early days of food blogging, which consisted of hundreds of local restaurant reviews. This time around, I am going to focus on the positive, highlighting my favourite spots to go in town, versus talking about negative experiences. I plan on still giving constructive criticism when needed though, of course. If people visit Victoria, B.C. or live here, they will see how passionate Victorians are for their weekend brunch. Expect line-ups for most of the popular places and strong opinions about who has the best eggs bennies or waffles.

Blue Fox

This next restaurant is a controversial choice, but mostly for one fact only, the line-ups. A lot of my friends are strictly “we don’t do lines” folks, so if I do go to Blue Fox, I choose random hours like super early in the morning or later in the morning, even spilling into the afternoon, solely to avoid the line-ups. I honestly think that Blue Fox is just as famous for its food as it is for its line-ups. But without a doubt, I can’t think of a time where I wasn’t satisfied with my breakfast here. It’s a tiny space with lots of brightly coloured walls and artwork, smiling servers and a room abuzz with colloquial chatter. The portions are very generous and I always look forward to what type of homemade jam they will give me with my toast. I usually get the Chorizo and Eggs, but the peasant toast or bennies are always solid choices too. It’s a charming place with your coffee cup always being topped-up and plastic cups, casual and chummy and always yummy.
