Pardon my rant, but for those of you who know me, you will know that I have been on a diet of sorts. I like to do parasite cleanses every once in a while for a few reasons, mostly because it forces me to eat less sugar and bread but also there is something satisfying about knowing that you’re giving your body a break. Parasite cleanses are similar to a candida cleanse with some herbal supplements that are known for their anti-parasite properties (black walnut, wormwood, cloves, etc.). You reduce the amount of white grains and added sugar, fermented products like vinegar and alcohol and dairy from your diet. What this equates to is usually a lot of rice and veggies, although you can still have meat and fish.
Some examples of what I had for breakfast:
brown rice cakes with peanut butter
oatmeal with almond milk, chia seeds, hemp hearts and blueberries
fruits, nuts
eggs with veggies
Lunches were easy with rice pasta, stews, soups, curries
Dinners were usually pretty simple with salads, eggs and rice cakes, or protein shakes with fruit after the gym.
The cleanse is around 35 days and being strict is the best way to get results. I’m happy to say that I lost around 15 pounds just by eating more simply without sugar and bread products. There are still so many things you can eat and I definitely never went hungry.
Diet is a huge part of the equation for a healthy lifestyle but I also started incorporating swimming/the gym and walking more to increase my activity levels. I work a sedentary job so any chance to get some movement is a bonus.
I’ll keep y’all posted but I think I’ll continue to mostly keep eating like this with weekends being my flexible time to have the occasional waffle or piece of cake 😛
If anyone else has some experiences or lifestyle regimes they’d like to share, I’d love to hear about them! Cheers Simmerlings!
